During 2017, the EEOC reviewed and considered revising the EEO-1 survey. The revision was to include pay data and to change the filing deadline from September to March. This proposed revision has been suspended indefinitely but the March deadline has remained in place. Therefore, every company with 100+ employees or federal contractors with 50+ employees and $50,000 in contracts need to submit the 2017 EEO-1 survey by March 31, 2018. The 2017 EEO-1 submission will continue to require race, ethnicity and gender data by job category, as in previous years. The 2017 EEO-1 will not include the submission of pay and hours worked as proposed. This means the EEO-1 survey will remain unchanged. The employment data used for the 2017 EEO-1 should be selected from a payroll period in the fourth quarter of the 2017 calendar year (October, November or December).
Notification Letters for the 2017 EEO-1 Survey
As in previous years, employers should have already received letters of notification for the EEO-1 survey which is due March 31, 2018. The letter of notification includes your company number and filing instructions. Please note that your 2016 password will not work for the 2017 EEO-1 survey. You can obtain your new password by following this link: (https://egov.eeoc.gov/eeo1/login.jsp). Once on the site, you may use your company number and the contact person’s email address as indicated on the letter of notification to obtain the password. If your contact person has changed you must send the EEOC a signed change request on company letterhead. This change request must include the company number, name, title, phone number and email address of the new contact person at your company. The change request must be signed by an authorized company representative. You can send the request via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or fax it to 1.866.262.0032. The new contact will then receive an email with login and password information once the request has been submitted.
Consistent with current surveying practices, you will submit and certify the EEO-1 surveys securely via the EEO-1 Online Filing System on the EEOC’s website or utilize the upload feature to electronically transmit a data file containing the EEO-1 data (https://egov.eeoc.gov/eeo1/login.jsp).
