The Equal Pay Act (EPA) mandates that employers do not pay female employees less than male employees for equal work on jobs that require equal skill, effort and responsibility.
Review salaries in your department and pay close attention to any discrepancies between payment for men and women performing the same job. Ensure that any discrepancies found are not due to discrimination. If there are legitimate reasons for the difference (i.e. the man has been a better performer, the woman is new in the job, the jobs are not equal despite the same or similar job titles, etc.), make certain to document carefully.
